Movie Review: Premium Rush

(Special note for the very first movie review: There are a handful of things I love in this world, that’s food, pets, bikes and movies. So you can probably expect some stuff which seems to be off-topic, yet really is bike-related, just like this movie review that I am about to write. Don’t worry, I won’t bore you with dull reviews, this is just a teaser and something that may entice you to watch it too!)

First Ever Long Ride: 72 Kms in Total (Mang Jak meets Aling Pina)

Here in the Philippines, when summer arrives, most people grab their backs and head to the beach. I was one of those people, especially when the Holy Week arrives. But for the last couple of years, I tried to do something different during the scared season… sort of like a sacrifice. This year, I did it with Mang Jak!

So with Hazel, our biking coach Roel, their bikes, Mang Jak and I set our feet on our pedals to start our journey. We began our ride from home to Patindig Araw (Imus) through Daang Hari, passing Pasong Buaya trail to Dasmarinas towards Silang, Cavite.

Mang Jak’s Search for Hidden Tapsilog (Kawit, Cavite)

Girl Padyak
Hazel's Bike (at Aguinaldo Shrine)... How did she get there?
Hazel and I are natural food lovers (Can’t you tell? LOL). Before this biking thing happened, we were the constant food trippers; in any means of transportation necessary (public transport, car, train, plane or even our own pair of legs). But since Hazel got her bike and I have Mang Jak, we were able to reach places we weren’t able to get on car (since I am basically retarded when it comes to looking for direction; and it would be too expensive to waste a litter of fuel just going around in circles).

And so, the search for the Hidden Tapsilog began. The first encounter we had with this “hidden tapsilogan” was that night a few years ago. We were driving around Cavite, looking for a place to eat but too lazy to go to Manila. We texted a friend who happens to live nearby for her recommendations, she pointed us to “Hidden Tapsilogan” aka “Hidden Tapsi” along Tirona Road in Bacoor.

Breaking In Mang Jak: First time to Evia City at Daang Hari

Yippee! We got our bikes! Hazel (her bike), Mang Jak and I just couldn’t get more excited to go for a spin! FYI, before we got our decent-enough mountain bikes, Hazel rode a blue folding bike, while I ride an ordinary “mountain” bike (which doesn’t really pass as one; but clueless people think it was just because it wasn’t bmx, folding bike or even the Japan-type with matching basket).

You see, I live in Imus, Cavite. And here, the sun shines wild! So if you dare to start late and ride slow, the chance of you getting barbecued is really, really high! And yes, at that time, we were as good as pork on a stick!
